Painter, ceramist and teacher, born in Bristol. He studied at Bath Academy of Art in 1949–52, then began teaching pottery there, remaining on staff until 1979. In 1963 he had a solo ceramics exhibition at Forum Galleries in Bristol, the year later at New Vision Centre Gallery. In 1966 Eaves had a solo show of paintings at Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol, and he won a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship to work as a painter in New Mexico. In 1986–7 he gained a Leverhulme Emeritus Fellowship to study Emile Nolde and paint in Germany. Eaves continued to exhibit widely, having a retrospective at Victoria Art Gallery, Bath, in 1987. Arts Council holds his work. Lived in Bath.
