This exceptional kākā poria, believed to be carved from translucent bowenite ranging from light to dark green, features a polished surface, three sets of serrations, and an elongated end with a cratered hole. Traditionally used to tether kākā (native parrots), its rare material and refined craftsmanship suggest it may have also held ceremonial significance. 6.5cm tall by 4cm wide.

Historical Provenance:

Believed to be 18th Century.

Condition:

Wear commensurate with age.
