Vienna Cold-Painted Orientalist Figurine of a Snake Charmer on a Rug

More Information

A single cold-painted cast metal figurine executed in the style of Vienna Bronze, often associated with the workshop of Franz Xaver Bergmann. The Orientalist subject depicts a male figure, dressed in robes and a turban, seated cross-legged while playing a pipe or flute. Positioned before him on the base is a small coiled snake. The base is cast and cold-painted to resemble a detailed, fringed Persian or Oriental rug, featuring geometric designs in tones of red, yellow, and bronze. The piece is constructed from a base metal, likely spelter, with an applied cold-painted finish. The underside of the base bears a black stamped mark reading "AUSTRIA."
