Good old French double bass by and faintly stamped Claudot to the upper back, total back length 45 1/2", stop length 25 3/4", vibrating string length 43 1/4"
This double bass has been heavily restored and is need of further restoration, the table has a sound post and numerous other cracks clearly visible in the images, the upper bouts of the table are in very poor condition with cracks and loss of varnish, possibly water damage, the back in better condition but slightly coming apart at the join, signed Claudot to the top, also several cracks to the ribs on the lower bouts.
