** Albert Cooper supplied the following information in November 1973 when restoring and re-tuning the instrument to his famous 'Cooper Scale', the tuning system developed for James Galway.

** This flute was manufactured in Boston in about 1920 and made by George W Haynes, the brother of William S Haynes who was the works manager, these brothers separated after a dispute and George went into partnership with Schwelm, a Boston clarinet maker

** All of George's flutes are of the German-American style, tend to look alike, and always play well

** from the collection of a local flute collector, performer and teacher, himself a student of James Galway
