A Chinese Blue and White 'Dragon' Dish, Kangxi Mark. -

A Chinese blue and white 'dragon' dish, bearing a six-character underglaze blue reign mark in regular script, "大清康熙年製" (Dà Qīng Kāngxī Nián Zhì), translating to "Made in the Great Qing Kangxi period, " and of the period. The shallow dish is decorated with intricate designs in underglaze cobalt blue. The interior features a central five-clawed dragon amidst flames and clouds within a circular medallion, surrounded by further dragons and dense cloud scrolls on the cavetto and rim, rendered with a combination of blue design on a white ground and reserved white on a blue ground. The exterior continues the detailed blue and white dragon and cloud motif. The base reveals a glazed white footrim with an unglazed biscuit-colored edge.
