N.B. Jack Buchanan replaced Ivor Novello in the leading role of King’s Rhapsody on Novello’s death in 1951; Harry Hanson was for three decades the leading UK impresario of seaside entertainment and founded the Court Players in 1932, continuing into the 1960s; Arthur Brough (1905-1978) who with his wife founded his players in 1928, is better remembered today for having played Mr. Grainger in 'Are you Being Served?' for the BBC in the 1970s.
