A RARE BLUE AND WHITE NAVAL MESS PLATE, CIRCA 1890


the centre with crossed flags motif, circular belt border inscribed Royal Navy and Mess No 1, anchor with patriotic foliate swags above, the rim with six alternating cartouches with vessels and trophies of war, the reverse with maker's marks for F. Primavesi & Sons, Cardiff & Swansea -- 9¼in. (23.5cm.) diam.
