A SHAPE'S MODEL 1863 MILITARY CARBINE.
39" overall with 22" .50 barrel retained by a single band, with three groove rifling, ladder rear sight. Action stamped 'R.S. Laurence Pat April 12th 1859.' & 'C. Sharp Pat. Oct 5th 1852'. Numbered 75312. Walnut two piece full stock with iron furniture, including sling bar. Originally a percussion gun converted to metallic cartridge post war. Circa 1865. Good condition, butt plate rusted. Carbine number 75312 was issued to Corporal George W Taylor of the 10th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry, with some pages of research.
