AN OTTOMAN BALKAN REPOUSSE SILVER BOWL DEPICTING THE LAST SUPPER, 18TH CENTURY
A silver bowl of circular form featuring high-relief repousse and chased decoration. The interior base depicts the Last Supper with Christ and the twelve apostles gathered around an oval table set with a central chalice and bread. The scene is enclosed by concentric beaded and linear borders. Both the interior and exterior side walls are decorated with a continuous frieze of individual figures, likely saints or apostles, situated within arched architectural niches supported by columns against a cross-hatched background.
