A PAIR OF NEO-MUDEJAR ARISTA SPANISH MOORISH STYLE GLAZED EARTHENWARE TILES, 19TH CENTURY
A pair of rectangular glazed earthenware tiles produced in the arista or cuenca technique, characterized by raised molded ridges that separate the colored glazes. The decorative program features a polychrome geometric interlacing pattern known as laceria, centered on eight-pointed stars and strapwork forming octagonal and diamond-shaped cells. The color palette includes cobalt blue, emerald green, honey-amber, and manganese purple-black glazes against a cream-white ground. The reverse of one tile features molded panels with the raised letters PUBING in the upper section and the model number No 7405 in the lower section. A circular mark is present in the center but is illegible due to wear. The second tile is backed with green felt.
