THREE PERSIAN QAJAR EROTIC MINIATURE PAPIER MACHE PAINTINGS, 19TH CENTURY The works are rendered in gouache or tempera on card or lacquer board, featuring gold-toned highlights and a glossy finish. Each miniature depicts a couple in traditional Persian attire engaged in sexual activity. The figures are characterized by large, eyes and heavy eyebrows typical of the period. The scenes are set within arched borders decorated with gold-leaf style detailing and corner spandrels. One miniature is mounted individually, while the remaining two are mounted together as a pair. All three are presented on green cardstock within modern light-wood frames.
