INDO-PERSIAN SCHOOL, 20TH CENTURY, A PAIR OF SAFAVID 'WOODLAND SCENES WITH ANIMALS' (SIGNED). -
A pair of miniature paintings in the Indo-Persian style, depicting woodland scenes with animal silhouettes. Each work is executed in black ink and gold pigment on paper. The compositions feature various fauna, including deer, monkeys, squirrels, and birds, arranged around a central stylised tree amidst dense foliage. The scenes are set against a shimmering gold ground. Each painting is enclosed within a solid-coloured border, one in red and the other in pink, both featuring fine linear detailing. The works are mounted within wide white mats and housed in separate frames: one in a light wood and the other in black-painted wood. Indistinct characters, possibly a signature, are visible in the lower right corner of each gold field.
