holding a lingzhi branch above his left shoulder, wearing a green jacket tied at the waist with an aubergine belt, the head, hands and legs left in the biscuit, all on a raised double plinth rectangular stand

PROVENANCE: From an important French private collection formed between 1924 and 1941. Purchased from Compagnie de la Chine et Des Indes, 39 Avenue de Friedland, Paris, 14th November 1927, with trace of another dealer’s original label.

EXHIBITION: Included by Marchant in their 2023 exhibition of Kangxi Biscuit and Pottery: A Private French Collection, no. 38, pp. 86/7.
