AN OMANI SILVER FILIGREE SAIDI KHANJAR DAGGER, 20TH CENTURY. -
An Omani ceremonial dagger, known as a khanjar, executed in the Saidi style. The hilt is decorated with fine wire filigree in concentric and geometric patterns, interspersed with raised circular motifs. The L-shaped scabbard is clad in silver filigree wirework and features two applied silver plaques depicting the national emblem of the Sultanate of Oman, comprising crossed swords superimposed by a central khanjar. The reverse of the scabbard is finished with a deep maroon velvet lining. The scabbard is fitted with a broad central band decorated with foliate chasing and filigree, supporting four circular rings for belt attachment.
