The picture has been re-lined at some point in the past, and the lower left and lower right corners show evidence of the original canvas lifting from the re-lining. The paint surface shows craquelure throughout. There are small losses to the paint in the top left corner, and a diagonal line of paler paint approximately 3cm long in the same area (this appears to be later than the painting but does not fluoresce strongly under UV). There are three scuffs to the paint surface halfway down the right hand side. The central area of the picture shows some staining, and the cliff on the left hand side shows some mottling. Examination under UV shows no evidence of recent repair or restoration. The frame shows open joints at the corners, and some small losses to the moulded details.
