A FIRST WORLD WAR PAIR TO THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. A Great War pair comprising War Medal and Victory medal with mentioned in despatches oak leaf named to 244217 SPR P.T. HILLMAN R.E. Also a Home Guard enamelled lapel badge. Percy Tom Hillman served with the Royal Marines (Royal Naval Division Engineers) with number 5680 before transferring to the Royal Engineers. He was awarded the Mention in Despatches whilst Lance Corporal Acting Sergeant with the 248th Field Company. It was published in the Gazette on the 4th July 1919, 31437 p 8552. A Surveyor and draughtsman prior to the War, he enlisted at Plymouth on the 1st January 1916 at the age of 34, he was transferred to the Reserve on the 24th July 1919.
