£70 - £100
A collection of five pieces of 19th century Cantonese ware, including vases, teapot etc, together with a flambe vase raised on a wooden stand. Tallest 48 cm.
The large kettle is missing its lid and there are two large cracks in the rim which are visible in the photograph. There are also a number of cracks on the inside, the largest of which is visible on the underside of the kettle and goes across the full length of the base. The small kettle is again missing its lid and there is also a large chip in the top rim, approx. 2 x 1 cm, and the very tip of the spout is broken off and missing. There are two firing faults at the base, the largest of which is approx. 2 cm in length. The largest of the Famille Rose vases has had a large section broken and re-glued back into place. This section is approx. 15 x 10 cm. The medium vase has chips to the rim, there is also a line going across the center of the vase, but this corresponds with where the vase has been glazed internally. The smallest vase is in good condition but does have some rubbing to the gilding and the red-painted rim around the top. The large red vase, whilst in good condition, does have a scratch on the glaze which is approx. 4 cm in length. The plate decorated with butterflies has chips to the rim and also has a crack running from the edge towards the centre, which is approx. 7 cm in length. The plate decorated with pheasants and butterflies has a large chip to the rim which is approx. 1.5 x 2.5 cm. There is also a crack running from the rim towards the centre, approx. 5 cm in length.
