(A.L.S John Ruskin) A Victorian memorial album 12mo, bound in full black calf, with repoussé decoration to both boards, rubbed to joints and extremities, boards holding firm, gilt edge, silk endpapers, just pp.12 of MS signatures and poems etc, the first being written and signed by John Ruskin, headed 'Peppering; 11th January. 1876', 'Dear Miss Bessie, I know not how to begin your pretty memorial-book but by simply saying how happy you have made the friend whom you honour in allowing to him there first of kindly words. I do not know how to choose for you, out of my store memory, manner(?) than you might think. verse or saying of any special filness(?): but am content to hope that every following page may bear the name of some one to whom you kindness has been no less helpful than to your ver true friend,' 1876-1879.
