An Indian Rajasthani Jain Cosmological Diagram, 19th Century. -

This Indian miniature painting, executed in opaque watercolour and ink on paper, depicts a central male figure, likely a cosmic being or a ruler, standing behind a large and intricate circular cosmological diagram or yantra. The figure is portrayed with a dark beard and moustache, wearing a green turban adorned with a jewelled ornament and a red robe. The central mandala consists of concentric rings containing architectural structures, geometric grids, and various symbolic figures rendered in a palette of red, yellow, blue, and green. The work is characteristic of the traditional Rajasthani style with Jain iconographic influences.
