What is World Book Day?

World Book Day isn't just a UK thing - it's a big deal worldwide! UNESCO kicked it off back in 1995 to spread the joy of reading far and wide. Fast forward to 1997, and the UK and Ireland decided to join the fun, all in the hope of encouraging young readers to become hooked on books! In the UK, World Book Day is celebrated each year on the first Thursday in March, and it's a time to celebrate the power of storytelling and the magic of books. As the world becomes more digital, encouraging people of all ages to ditch the tech and explore the joy of reading has never been more important.
