Framed and glazed
The work is framed under glass and has not been removed for inspection. The medium appears to be oil pastel applied directly to the canvas. There is a small stain approximately 15mm diameter just above the sitter's left shoulder, but no other obvious damage to the picture surface. The frame appears to be structurally sound, but shows wear to the gilt finish, some small losses to the moulded detail, and slightly open joints at the corners.
