A late 19th to early 20th Century Sevres inkwell modelled as a cherub holding drumsticks, sat beside two lidded pots with drapery, the lids each with a hand painted portraits of French society ladies, the whole in turquoise with gilt detailing, interlaced L mark, length 22.5cm.

NB - Known as L'amour Timbalier (Drummer Love), this design was presented to King Louis XV on 22nd December 1771. It was one of three designs that were offered to the sovereign to gift to courtiers.

There is wear to the gilding, most noticeably to the lids of the inkwells. No chips, cracks or restoration. The hinged covers are slightly loose.
