A collection of nine vintage playing card decks. The lot includes two sets housed in hinged boxes: one contains two decks featuring Art Deco-style pink, gold, and black reverse designs with silhouetted figures and swans, presented in a black tray within a gilt-edged box. The second hinged box, blue and white, holds two decks; a red one marked "Frido FOR VINYL BALLS AND DOLLS" and a blue deck labeled "V&E PLASTICS FOR INJECTION AND COMPRESSION MOULDING," suggesting their function as promotional or sample decks. Additionally, there are three red decks branded "CALYPSO COPYRIGHT PLAYING CARDS," one of which features a blue patterned border, and another is held together with a pink rubber band. A single deck of "HINDLEY Waddington's Number 1 PLAYING CARDS" from "JOHN WADDINGTON LTD. LEEDS LONDON ENGLAND" resides in its beige cardboard box. One "Calypso" deck is partially wrapped in a blue and white patterned paper, visible text indicating a "U.S. REVENUE STAMP" and "PENALTY FOR OMISSION OF $200," pointing to a US origin and likely a pre-1965 manufacture date. A separate, closed blue box with a textured, possibly faux-leather, finish is also included.
