A George III mahogany and soapstone mounted cabinet on stand, the cabinet late 18th century, the panels Chinese Chien Lung Dynasty, the rectangular moulded and crossbanded top inset with three panels, the front centered by a double panelled cupboard door inlaid with a pair of Doric arches and mounted with Chinese characters to the rear and enclosing two shaped shelves, the central door surrounded by an arrangement of nine drawers and with conforming panels to the sides, the rectangular stand with a shaped apron and square tapered legs ending in spade feet, each panel mounted with either an Oriental lady at leisure or blossoming branches supporting birds, inlaid throughout with multiple bandings and stringing, 122cm high, 62cm wide, 34.5cm deep - 4ft, 2ft 1/2in, 1ft 1 1/2in- purchased from Sothebys Fine English Furniture sale 22/3/2002 lot 209 the estimate was £7000 to £10,000 copies supplied with the lot
