A fine pair of mid-18th Century "Queen Anne" travelling flintlock pistols, the lockplates with foliate engraving and signed R HOMER LONDON, the 6.3cm turn-off cannon barrels with proof marks, the bag butt to each with silver wire inlay, each silver butt cap repoussé with a shell-surmounted mask. (2) 21cm long overall

Footnote: R (Richard) Homer is listed by Blackmore (Howard L.) as a "Gunlock maker of Bilston, Staffs, c.1745-70"; also indicates he marked guns 'London '.
