Manuscript Gleanings & Literary Scrapbook by John Poole 1826. Leather spine with gilt lettering & marbled boards (see photo for condition). The book was one of the first published to explain how to create a scrap book or commonplace book with instructions & blank contents pages at the front and the rest of the book numbered for the owner to add their own notes or scraps. A few poems and flower illustrations have been added and Latin names of herbs & flowers. The most interesting entry is a long eulogy written for Prince Albert entitled “The Prince Consort”. This was written 16th March 1862 by the sister of the book’s owner a few months after Prince Albert’s death.
