AN 18TH CENTURY PISTOL BOX NAMED FOR J. SEALE ESQ, MT. BOONE DARTMOUTH'. A stained pine pistol box with baize lined interior for a pair of pistols. The case with engraved brass label 'J. Seale Mt Boone Dartmouth'. 29 x 20 x 6 cm. Sir John Henry Seale (1780 - 1844) of Mount Boone near Dartmouth in Devon was a Whig Member of Parliament for Dartmouth in 1838 and Baronet from the 31st July 1833. Today he is best remembered for building bridges in Dartmouth including the Dart crossing.
