A striking seascape depicting rolling waves under a brooding sky, the surface animated with rich impasto and tonal subtleties in deep blues, greys and silvers. Freyberg’s mastery of light is evident in the luminous reflections breaking across the water’s crest — a hallmark of his maritime compositions.
