A VERY FINELY CRAFTED MID 19TH CENTURY IRISH SILVER CENTRE BOWL, decorated with beautiful chased detail all over; depicting dogs, birds, flowers & scrolling foliage details. Engraved to one cartouche with a crest; and the Latin: Per Virtutem Sciamque: meaning By Valour & Knowledge. Dublin hallmarks to the base; date letter of ‘I’ for 1856, maker’s mark of R.S for Richard W. Smith. Dimensions: 18 x 10.5cm (W x H). Weight: 17ozt.
