Provenance: The James Redmond Collection.


James Redmond, born in Glasgow in 1937, was educated at the Universities of Glasgow, Oxford and Cambridge. A professional academic who taught both in the US and in Britain, he was Head of Drama at Westfield College, University of London.


He edited and wrote the introduction to the 1970 edition of William Morris’s News From Nowhere and particularly loved the works and aesthetics of the Arts and Crafts Movement.
A wise and extremely witty man with a keen eye, he lived surrounded by beauty and no-one who visited his lovely house full of treasures would ever forget the joy of it.
