British 1803 pattern infantry flank officer's sword by Osborn & Gunby, etched foliate decoration throughout the curved blade, etched 'Osborn & Gunby, Warranted' with royal cypher to one side, pierced and moulded knucklebow guard with GR cypher, lion's head pommel, leather grip, with original leather and metal mounted scabbard, blade measures approximately 30 1/2 inch

By family repute owned by an officer stationed on St. Helena, who was responsible for  standing guard over Napoleon while prisoner on the island.

Blade - Surface scratches and scuffs. Some tiny nicks to the blade edge. Majority of bluing now gone, tarnishing and areas of rust to the blade. Blade is straight. Dents to the metal on back of handle and near guard. Area of loss to the wooden handle beneath the pommel.  Scabbard -  Scratches, scuffs, splits and perishing to the leather. Metal mounts with scratches, scuffs, dents and splits. Area of loss to the metal tip of scabbard.  General wear and tear.
