A Russian silver Torah pointer or yad, assay marks for Veniamin Vasilyevich Savinsky, Moscow 1873, maker's mark IA, of traditional tapering form, the bird finial to the top with suspension ring, the three sided handle beneath with applied lion, foliate, mennorah, Russian double headed eagle, Star of David and jewelled decoration, separated by a bun shaped knop from the tapered lower half with applied spiralling decoration, terminating in a clasped fist with pointing index finger, 14 7/8in. (37.75cm.) long.. * Marks clear. Small hole and old soldered repair to bird's neck and soldered repairs evident to knop and top of handle. Pointing hand possibly a recent replacement.
