The Princess modelled holding an exotic feathered fan whilst enthroned high upon the back of an elephant draped in magnificent, colourful silks heightened with elaborate gilt arabesque detail Height 51cm
Introduced in 1952 this remarkable group demonstrates the ultimate skill of ceramic figure production practised by Royal Doulton at their Nile Street works in Burslem, Stoke on Trent.
The original model was first shown at the Wembley Exhibition of 1924 and credited to Harry E Stanton who at that time was the Master in Charge of the Burslem School of Art.
The saga of Princess Badoura relates to ‘The Arabian Nights’ and the beautiful Badoura celebrated for her undying love of Prince Kaimer
