Star Lot: An original Allan Ardies (Belfast, d.2014) oil on board painting titled "Light and Shade, Achill Island." Features a panoramic landscape scene of the rolling hills and snaking coastline of the island, inhabited by a few cozy cottages. Wonderfully rendered in an impressionistic style, in an earthen palette of rich red browns and purple greys. Signed bottom right and housed in a fine cream frame.

Allan Ardies was born in Belfast, and started painting in 1941. He has exhibited with the Royal Ulster Academy Association and the Royal Ulster Academy. He passed away October 27th 2014. He has a strong auction history with works estimated up to €700 at Whyte's.
