Mid-Century Chalkware Figurative Table Lamp, African Drummer Style
A single mid-century figurative table lamp constructed from molded chalkware or painted plaster. The lamp depicts a kneeling stylized male figure, often associated with Blackamoor or African drummer motifs popular in the 1950s. The figure is finished in matte black paint with contrasting bright orange lips and white painted details forming a bead necklace and loincloth. The figure rests his hands on the rim of a cylindrical vessel, which serves as the lamp base and houses the electrical socket and wiring.
