Notes: Eamon de Valera was an American born Irish statesman. He was known as 'Long Fellow' due to his stature and not his notable political career. He was a commandant of the Irish Volunteers at Boland's Mill during the 1916 Easter Rising and was arrested and sentenced to death but later released. He returned following his incarceration in England and became one of the leading political figures standing for several terms as the Taoiseach between 1937 and 1959.
