AN 1834 PATTERN VICTORIAN FIRST LIFE GUARDS OFFICER'S SWORD. With a 94 cm straight blade with shallow fuller, finely decorated with Royal cypher, battle honours to include Tel El Kebir and Egypt 1882. Marked for Hawkes & Co Picadilly, numbered 3978 to the back of the blade. On an elaborate basket hilt with 1 LG and a crown in scrolling gilt against pierced steel, the shagreen grip bound in fine wire, and with a stepped oval pommel. 110 cm.
Generally good condition, slight nicks to the blade and general age related discolouring.
