A 19th century opal and diamond brooch/pendant, the five pear shaped cabochon opals set with old cut diamond detail, set in white and yellow metal, hinge pin, screw mechanism and pendant loops to reverse, 2.5cm wide, 6gms (at fault)

More Information

As seen from images, one diamond is missing from the outer edge. The mount from this diamond is split.
Remaining diamonds are all present, majority old cut diamonds, well matched in colour, bright and lively.
Hinge pin to the reverse is in working condition.
However the screw mechanism is missing one of the pins to the side, and possibly is a later addition. Doesn't stay in place, so will require attention.
Settings are low to the front of the piece.
All five opals show minor surface blemishes and scuffs, due to the nature of the stone.
The pair of pendant loops appear to be later as the attachment of them doesn't appear to be as finished as the remainder of the piece.
General discolouration, blemishes and scuffs seen throughout the piece, commensurate with age and wear.
