A Japanese lacquer Tabako-Bon (smoker's compendium) - Meiji period, of cube form with gilt brass swing handle and three drawers to the front, one with plated metal insert, the top with a plated metal lidded container for ashes with swing handle, the exterior decorated in gold and black lacquer with cranes in flight over a wooded landscape, on a red-brown ground, 11.7cm square, 13.3cm high, one side of the gallery top replaced.
