Victorian Cast-Iron Shop / Parcel Scales by Parnall & Sons, Bristol
A substantial decorative platform balance scale, the pierced cast-iron back in original green paint with scroll and foliate ornament and central cartouche cast “PARNALL & SONS / MAKERS / BRISTOL”, with iron steelyard arm and hanging counter-weight above the heavy rectangular weighing platform similarly cast with maker’s marks.
Approx. height c. 95–100cm; platform c. 50cm sq. (measurements to be confirmed on sale).
Condition: Well worn with surface rusting, paint losses and grime throughout; old chips and knocks consistent with age and commercial use
