A Chinese Archaic Style Hetian Jade Plaque with Stylized Beast Motifs, Late Qing - Republican Period. -
This oblong, flattened plaque or pendant is fashioned from a pale green-white translucent stone, consistent with Hetian jade. Its surface is intricately adorned with incised, low-relief stylized patterns composed primarily of curvilinear scrolls and interwoven geometric grid-like motifs, consistent with archaic Chinese zoomorphic or 'taotie' designs. Two small, circular drilled holes are evident, one at the top and one at the bottom, suggesting it was designed for suspension.
