A LARGE VICTORIAN SILVER PRESENTATION TROWEL

by Charles Reily & George Storer, London 1850, the fluted handle with a foliate finial, Gothic strap-work junction, the blade with an inscription, in a fitted case. 39cm long



The inscription on the trowel reads 'PRESENTED TO Samuel Fletcher Esq. J.P. on the occasion of his laying THE FOUNDATION STONE of Cheetham Hill Independant Chapel, 26th JUNE 1852. In Testimony of his Zeal for the advancement of Evangelical Religion, and as A Tribute of Esteem for his Personal Character. A W Mills Esq Architect. J L Poore, Secretary to the Committee.'
