Property of a lady - James Fenn Clark (1823-1910) - the vellum album of James Clark, son of Hezekiah & Anne Clark, containing drawings and watercolour sketches of his travels to various countries including India, Ceylon, Europe and Scandinavia, some probably by different hands including his mother Anne Clark, the album also includes 19 Indian mica paintings of various tradesmen, vendors, and processional carriages, and 20 Indian gouache & watercolour illuminations; together with a set of 12 Indian mica paintings depicting figures, the faces left vacant, with a further mica painting depicting two faces (to fit in the vacancies of the 12), all in a wooden box with sliding cover; and a scrap album belonging to Erland A. Clark (son of James Fenn Clark) (a lot). Footnote - Hezekiah was senior surgeon of the Honourable East India Company Service and later the Bengal Medical Service. They lived at Government House, Calcutta from circa 1823 to the late 1840's. Provenance - by direct family descent.
