A VERY LARGE CARVED WOODEN QUR’AN STAND (KURSI), Indian, possibly 19th or early 20th century. Of typical form, with carved open work to the upper sections & to the lower sections; showing animals amongst flowers & foliage. Wonderful detail throughout. This is a very large example with seven hinges which would have held a very large book. Dimensions: 77 x 30 x 3cm when folded (H x W x D). Maximum depth when open: 56cm. Height when opened fully: 56cm.
