A large Japanese porcelain Imari covered jar with later gilt metal mounts - 18th/ 19th century, ovoid form, the domed cover with gilt gadrooned finial, painted with four reserves depicting birds and flowers on rocky outcrops, on a blue diaper ground with ruyi symbols on pale green bamboo columns, the base with a band of decoration depicting mythical beasts in a landscape, the cover with three quatrefoil floral reserves, on a separate bronze stand with gilt brass stylised lappet mount (a/f) and three paw feet, 48cm high overall, the jar only 40cm high, 33cm diameter, the jar with stapled repair around the circumference of the body, the base cracked.

* Condition: The jar with stapled repair around the circumference of the body. The base has a large star crack. Finial has been off and reattached (old repair). Glaze losses to edge of cover and gilt brass flange to cover is detached. Loss of one leaf to mount to rim of jar. The lappet mount to the top edge of the bronze base is detached and is broken into two pieces - part is missing.
