A Martinware style painted pottery jar and cover in the form of a grotesque owl, early 20th century, 20cm high a/f. * The Martin Brothers produced many similar examples 1873-1914 with their 'Wally Birds' series.
The head/cover with interior firing crack which shows through to the exterior glaze. Minor rim chips to cover rim interior. (See images). One claw missing on the left foot. As found condition.
