Some 25 postcards (all pictured) on horse-racing – 17 – British and four foreign (Ceylon, Calcutta and Poona – both India, and King Edward VII at Longchamp, France, in 1903. See last photo). Two of the stand-out cards are a 1908 real photo view of Salisbury Races, showing the old grandstand; and the steeplechase at Sandown Park. Other courses include Ascot x 2, Chester x 2, Epsom x 4, Newmarket x 6, Goodwood x 2, a Multiview of the Irish sweepstakes, and two cards of the finish of both the Melbourne Cup (Australia’s most famous annual Thoroughbred race) and Victoria Racing Club Derby (also Australia) in 1910. Three or so cards have corner creases, one has some staining and others have minor faults – but the better cards are in good plus condition.
