(The panels by de Gournay came from a unique commission for a contemporary Chinoiserie style design of floating Chrysanthemum flowers hand painted and part hand embroidered in silk onto a silk ground that has itself been painted with a pearlescent metallic pigment to lend the blossoms an intentional ethereal floating appearance which together form a mural pattern with no design repeat. Each silk panel is mounted to a strong backing board with chamfered edges and finished with a very fine solid brass shadow gap frame. )
