A late 19c Swiss music box retailed by Julio Musques of Montevideo. The 16cm long barrel has a comb with forty three teeth and plays eight airs. Behind the barrel are the figures of two pirouetting dancers between which sits the figure of a mandarin playing two bells and turning his head with the music. Next to the barrel is an indicator showing which air is playing. The box has a rosewood finish top with rectangular line inlays and a floral inlay to the centre. The lid has a replacement tune-paper inside it, but without the names of the tunes played. The box is 46cm w overall.
The movement is in good clean playing condition and the autometer are in good order. The box is in similar restored order.
